55 Year Reunion

Hi All,

The Reunion is Sunday 15th of September 2024, not Monday 15th as previously noted and since no one has corrected me, I am hoping you were not inconvenience by this. If you were, my sincere apologies. And yes we (the Committee) are finally moving on the reunion!

So far we have determined it will start at 12 noon and finish around 4pm. Those that want to kick on will be able to at a venue (or venues) to be determined on the day.

It will be held at Beaver Galleries in Deakin – thank you Martin Beaver for making the gallery available.

So, it’s time for those interstate to tee up accommodation with family or mates. Closer to the date we will find billets for any not able to confirm accommodation.

Much more to come as the Committee confirms details for the 15th of September 2024!

At the last lunch there was some interesting discussion around medical issues, what we do under stress and scammers.

Here is a true incident of self preservation that happened to me. Proving that some parts of me, the important ones at least, are still working!

Just before Xmas 2023 I was standing on the verandah with my back to the stairs talking to my daughter. So directly behind me was 5 concrete stairs and  an apron leading to the path. As we were talking her 30 kilo American bulll-dog jumped up putting its paws on my waist and pushing me backwards off the stairs. Going from talking to falling with an almost certain very unhappy ending (back of the head first from a height onto concrete) really gets the survival gene working.  Knowing I couldn’t keep falling backwards, though my head was moving back my feet were still on the verandah, I pushed off with my right leg and twisted my body 180 degrees right, landing upright on two feet on the apron. My momentum was such that I had to take a couple of steps forward running into the very large pot plants on the other side of the apron.

Except initially for 2 sore feet I was unhurt as was the dog. My daughter was dumb-struck, eventually saying just as well it was not her mother the dog jumped up on.

It was not until I had time to analyse what happened that I realised how bad it could have been.

Keep safe
Regards
Paul Worthy
